Hi, I’m Dave @davetown86 I first went hiking at a young age with my uncle around the local area, mainly Haworth in West Yorkshire. I kind of lost touch with it due to football and other commitments.
That is, until I decided one weekend out of the blue to do the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in full winter conditions and ever since then I have been hooked. I love keeping fit and being outdoors, I’m always planning the next adventure ⛰️⛰️⛰️
I would say my biggest challenge to date was a charity walk around the local area called the Millennium Way. In 18 hours, I covered 44 miles and was in bits due to the consistent heavy rain.
My most rewarding moment I would say is hiking Tryfan, The Glyderau & The Snowdon Horseshoe in one weekend. Helvellyn Horseshoe & Pavey Ark (Jack’s Rake) also stand out. The scenery in Wales and The Lake District is just 👌
I am yet to hike in Scotland, but it’s on my list. I did hike Mount Skopos in Zakynthos last year while on holiday, I highly recommended it.
My advise for anyone wanting to get out in the hills/mountains is to be prepared more than anything. Always have a route planned and inform others of where you are going. Have the correct equipment, know how to use it and always check weather forecasts.
My next challenge will see me hopefully complete the National 3 Peaks in 24hrs on the 9th August for a local charity. I will also continue ticking of the Dales 30’s, the Wainwright’s while also visiting Wales and Scotland.
